Fonic

The Fonic alphabet is a phonoanalogic and phonosymbolic writing system, simple and intuitive, modular and expandable, designed to allow the phonetic transcription of historical-natural languages and to grant the proper oral reproduction of foreign languages, consistently reducing the pronunciation errors of unknown words. The phonoanalogic representation allows intuitive learning, which develops sensitivity towards the phonoarticulatory phenomena. The modular structure facilitates the coding of the more complex phones and the expandability allows the easy updating of the system according to new needs. This volume briefly illustrates the general characteristics of writing systems, the main concepts of articulatory phonetics, the detailed structure of the Fonic alphabet and its application to the Italian language.
